17/10/2010 - Concerto 'Double-Bill' in Malcolm Arnold Festival
Following the success of Dominic's partnership with conductor John Gibbons
earlier this year, Dominic was invited to return for a specially-themed
'Stage & Screen' programme at this year's Malcolm Arnold Festival,
in which he gave a rare and exciting performance of Malcolm Arnold's
Ballade for Piano and Orchestra for the film 'Stolen Face'. Among a
programme of works by Walton, Alwyn and Arnold presented by Worthing
Symphony Orchestra, Dominic returned in the second half for a dazzling
interpretation of Rachmaninov's 2nd Piano Concerto, a work for which
he is in increasing demand.
24/07/2010 - Classics and Steam
In a highly unusual programme staged with the Ealing Symphony Orchestra
under the baton of the dynamic John Gibbons and in the unlikely venue
of Buckinghamshire's Quainton Railway Centre, Dominic brought the platform
down this evening after finishing the concert with a heartfelt rendition
of the work which the film 'Brief Encounter' has become renowned, Rachmaninov's
2nd Piano Concerto.
04/07/2010 - Shostakovich Debut
In an aptly-themed concert exploring the topic of freedom and independence,
Dominic made his Shostakovich debut this evening, with the 2nd Piano
Concerto, under the baton of internationally renowned conductor Hilary
Davan Wetton. The performance was heralded as sensational, and was also
a first with the Milton Keynes City Orchestra. The concerto, written
for his son, Maxim, to prevent him from escaping the practice of scales,
followed an exciting opener of Sibelius' Finlandia, leaving way for
a thrilling performance of Dvorak's New World Symphony

with the support of title sponsor Petronas

For the first time in the history of the sport, Jenson Button and Brawn
GP took both the Formula One drivers' and constructors' world championships
in Interlagos, Brazil today in the team's first year, allowing Dominic
Piers Smith to celebrate a year when 2 lifelong dreams were fulfilled
- to design a championship winning Formula One car, and also to play

- Button takes 2nd straight win in Malaysia
The 2nd race of the 2009 Formula Ones season provided another triumph
for Button, who shrugged off a poor start that dropped him from first
to fourth by charging back into the lead by the time the stops were
complete. He pulled away further when it rained, successfully rebuffed
Glock's challenge, and emerged with his second straight victory.
29/03/2009 - Brawn GP wins historic 1-2 in Australian Grand
Prix
Jenson Button secured a dream debut victory for the Brawn GP team, where
Dominic Piers Smith leads an aerodynamic development group, after dominating
the Australian Grand Prix. Button led throughout and team-mate Rubens
Barrichello completed a Brawn one-two after a dramatic finish. All eyes
were on Brawn after the chequered flag, with the success of the former
Honda team - whose survival was only secured by team boss Ross Brawn
in early March - firmly capturing the imagination of the sport as it
enters a fresh era under new rules.

Philharmonic Orchestra
Having been recognised as the most outstanding amateur classical piano
talent in the UK as winner of the 'The Pianists' Competition for Outstanding
Amateurs presented by Yamaha and Pianist Magazine, Dominic Piers Smith
stepped on to the professional stage of London’s prestigious Royal Festival
Hall at Southbank Centre on Valentine’s Night to enthrall a capacity
audience of discerning classical music lovers to a sensational performance
of Rachmaninov’s 2nd Piano Concerto with the world-class London Philharmonic
Orchestra conducted by Eivind Gullberg Jensen. Presented by the London
Philharmonic Orchestra and Raymond Gubbay in association with Yamaha,
the dynamic and expressive performance by this remarkable young pianist
drew a standing ovation and rapturous applause from the sell-out audience
who deservedly took the 33-year-old Formula 1 aerodynamicist to their
hearts on such a romantic occasion as Valentine’s Night.
14/02/2009 - Dominic Releases Debut Recording at Royal Festival
Hall
Valentine's Night 2009 also saw the official release of 'The
Power of Dreaming' - Dominic Piers Smith’s debut solo recordings.
The double CD, which was launched exclusively at the Royal Festival
Hall to coincide with Dominic’s performance of the Rachmaninov, is recorded
on the very same Yamaha concert grand piano, and focuses on the lives
and works of two of the greatest magicians in the history of keyboard
music – Frederic Chopin and Franz Liszt. A brainchild combining Formula
1 design flair with musical virtuosity, Dominic’s passion and energy
has attracted support and collaboration from both Yamaha Music and Brawn
GP(formerly Honda Racing Formula One Team).
